Robert Scholz

Robert William Scholz Jr., age 78, passed away on January 23, 2026.

Robert was born on April 2, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in the city and the suburbs. Called Bob by most, he lived life on his own terms, known for his sharp sense of humor and unwavering love for his family. Following in the footsteps of his father, he joined the Marine Corps and served his country in Vietnam. After returning to civilian life, he worked for many years as a Skilled Carpenter and retired while living in Nebraska in 2009. Eventually he moved to Tennessee to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren in Nashville. He never missed the opportunity to spend time with family including attending their sporting events . Bob enjoyed fishing, flying, boating, going to the beach and the mountains, soccer, baseball, football, old Western movies, reading books, and adored his beloved cat, Boris.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Schrum Meyer Scholz; his daughter, Jennifer Scholz-Smallwood (Scott); his stepdaughter, Jamie Bloom (Ross); his stepson, Justin Meyer (Kristen); and his cherished grandchildren, Travis Smallwood, Sarah Smallwood, Addison Meyer, and Emerson Meyer, his sister, Carolyn Scholz; his brothers-in-law, Linas Peckus and Richard Carle; and his nieces and nephews, Nathan Peckus, Madeleine Peckus, Meredith Carle, and Marissa Carle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria and Robert Scholz, Sr; his sisters, Susan Carle and Marie Scholz; and his brother, Richard Scholz.

Visitation will be held on February 19, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sellars Funeral Home, Mount Juliet, Tennessee 37122.

Robert will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
