Robert Scoppettuolo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Keefe Funeral Home - Arlington on Nov. 3, 2023.
Robert Philip Scoppettuolo was born on August 8, 1946 in Chelsea, MA. He passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023 after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. He is the husband of Linda Rose (Marino) Scoppettuolo of Arlington, MA. Devoted father of Lisa Anne (Scoppettuolo) Asaro and her husband Leo Asaro of Arlington, MA and the late Amie Rose Scoppettuolo. Grandfather/Papère of Lucia Amie and Liliana Rose Asaro. Son of the late Alfred and Simone (Tachaux) Scoppettuolo, formerly of Weymouth, MA. Son-in-law of the late James and Rose Marino, formerly of Arlington, MA. Brother of Nancy (Scoppettuolo) and Daniel Swirsky of Allentown, NJ. Brother-in-Law of Paul and Pauline Marino of Winchester, MA. Survived by his nephews and nieces: Perryn Stewart, Garret Stewart, Marla (Stewart) Hollan, and Paula (Marino) Alvarado. And his grandnephews and grandnieces: Sydney Stewart, Keira and Wade Hollan, and Matias Alvarado.
Bob grew up in Weymouth, MA and in 1976 he moved to Arlington, MA where he raised his family. Bob was an Elementary School Teacher in the Weymouth Public Schools for 35 years. After retiring from Weymouth, he was a long-term substitute teacher in several Massachusetts school systems. He ended his lengthy teaching career this past spring as a 10-year member of the ISS staff at Winchester High School. Bob was on staff at the former Rivers School Day Camp in Weston for over twenty years, spending several summers as the Director of the Lower Camp.
Bob received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Bridgewater State University and his CAGS from the University of Massachusetts. For eight years, Bob served as a reservist in the United States Army and then the National Guard. Since the 1980's, Bob volunteered in programs for children and adults with special needs, including Arlington's ASNAP, Belmont's SPORT, and Special Olympics. Bob was active in the Arlington town government, serving as a Town Meeting member and a Finance Committee member.
Bob was a loving and dedicated family man, one of the best. He loved teaching and his students loved "Mr. S." He was a life-long learner who enjoyed taking courses (but not doing the homework), especially French classes. He was a loyal and trustworthy friend who could be counted on to help out with a smile. He loved people and people loved him. He loved asking questions and learning about the lives of everyone around him. He will be deeply missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., ARLINGTON on Monday from 10-12 pm. Followed by a service at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Elizabeth and George L. Sanborn Foundation for the Treatment and Cure of Cancer, P.O. Box 417, Arlington, MA 02476.

I had Mr. Robert Scoppettuolo as a 5th grade teacher back in 1985 at Fulton school in weymouth. And just heard about his passing today from another teacher I had from back then. I am sad to hear this news. He was one of my favorite teachers always nice. He also was a substitute teacher for my youngest son at the union Street school weymouth in the early 2000s. He will definitely be missed. My thoughts and prayers to all hus loved ones
