Robert Lee Shaeffer

Robert Lee Shaeffer was born on October 9, 1934 in Washington County, Mississippi to the late Leroy Shaeffer Taylor and Willie Mae Taylor. Robert was educated in the St. Louis Public School System. He served in the United States Army for 6 years. After returning home from the Army, Robert married Marva Lloyd who preceded him in death. To this union there were five children. Robert was employed with American Steel Foundries in Granite City, Illinois for 40 years, he retired in 1997. Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He departed this life on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 1:38 a.m. He is resting safely in the arms of Jesus. He leaves to cherish his memory: five children, Veronica Franklin, Denise Bills, Derek Shaeffer (Debbie), Darryl Shaeffer, and Donna Shaeffer-Spencer (Byron); 12 grandchildren, Danielle, Damien, K'Juan, Dene, Dana, Anthony, Dorian, Derikka, Derek Jr., Derrion, Byron Jr. (Molly) and Stacey; 12 great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, a host of cousins and lifelong friends.
