Robert Shaffer Obituary
Robert Shaffer, age 86, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025. He was born on May 18, 1939, in Alliance, to Jesse and Viola (Eckis) Shaffer.
A graduate of Alliance High School and University of Mount Union as an accounting and psychology major and member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Robert worked as the general manager at the Alliance Review and other Peterson holdings and filed taxes for many people over the years.
Robert served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Canton, Alliance Elks Lodge #467, Rotary, Canton Symphony Chorus and the United Way. He also served on many boards to give back to his community including the Alliance Community Hospital, Alliance Community Pantry and the Canton Palace Theatre
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Rachel (Eggers) Shaffer; sons, Steven (Julie) and Neal Shaffer; and grandchildren, Lily, Reese and Anna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sue Gold.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church, 530 Tuscarawas St W, Canton, OH 44702.
Robert’s family would like to send a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to the staff of Cherish Hospice for their exceptional care.
