Robert Curtis Shaw, 89, affectionately known to many as Miggs, passed away peacefully at home in Leominster, Massachusetts surrounded by his family. Born on December 20, 1935, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Robert was a resolute and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Throughout his life, he maintained a witty and humble demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. His commitment to his family, friends, and faith was unwavering.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carole (Slattery); his son, Michael and his partner, Lee Miller; his daughter, Vicki Bourdon and her husband, Tom Bourdon; his son, Stephen Shaw; and his daughter, Kristen Cunningham and her husband, Jim Cunningham; his sister, Connie Hickey; his brother Jim Shaw and dear companion, Millie Caswell; his grandchildren Shawna (Tim) Grimes, Lindsay (TJ) Menerey, Allison (Zach) Brown, Heather Shaw, Steven Shaw, Liam Cunningham, and Maggie Cunningham; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Shaw; and his wife Lucille.
Robert graduated from St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg, MA, before serving in the US Army. He went on to work for the New England Electric Company until his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Leo's Parish, where he served as an Usher for many years. His love for travel was only surpassed by the joy he found in spending time with his family.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation at St. Leo’s Church in Leominster, MA on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at the same location.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Manor on The Hill Assisted Living for the compassionate care and support provided to Robert.
