Robert M. Shearer, 84, of Connellsville, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born Aug. 18, 1937, in Mill Run, a son of the late Warden and Rella Hiltabidel Shearer. Robert was a 1955 graduate of Connellsville High School. He served in the Army National Guard. He was employed as a draftsman for R.E. Uptegraff Manufacturing and had also worked as a butcher for many years. Robert was a past member of the Indian Creek Valley Lions Club and he delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. He was a member of the Romans VIII singing group and later the group Stedfast. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and deacon and also sang in the church choir. He also previously was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church in Mill Run where he was a past church treasurer. He is survived by his wife, Louise Peterson Shearer, with whom he would have celebrated his 64th Anniversary on Sept. 13; two daughters, Lisa Meilander and her husband Joel of Elizabeth Township, Pa. and Lori Shearer of Connellsville; three grandsons, Jonathan, Gregory and Owen Meilander; one sister, Helen Mills of Vanderbilt and one brother, John D. Shearer and his wife Kathy of Greensburg. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville. Additional viewing will take place on Saturday in the First Baptist Church from 1 to 2 p.m., the hour of funeral services with the Rev. Larry Hellein officiating.
