Robert Sheehan Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 19, 2026.
Robert Edward Sheehan passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the age of 81 as a result of a tragic car accident.

Robert was born on March 8, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard as a radio operator. Robert continued working for the United States government with US Customs as Border Patrol for 42 years before he retired. After retirement, he worked for security for Baker College until 2025. On September 22, 2000, Robert married Betty and they shared 25 wonderful years together. He enjoyed sailing and fishing but above everything his family was the most important part of his life. Robert adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to say he was proud of them was an understatement. His passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him, especially his family. Robert will be greatly missed.

Beloved husband of Betty; loved father of Patricia (the late Paul) Ferrillo, Gina (Joseph) Mellen, Julie (Mark) Pajakowski, Aimee (David) Miller, the late Christina Sheehan, Megan (Sean) Sullivan, Joshua (Megan) Frei, Brian Sheehan and Kevin Sheehan; adored grandfather of Stephanie, Daniel (Kimberly), Ashley (Dave), Jared (Noelle), Brody, Jordan, Riley, Avery, Alexis, Matthew and Saoirse; cherished great-grandfather of Lelani and Emery; dear brother of Anne (the late Jim) Olsen, David Sheehan, Mark Sheehan, the late Christopher Sheehan and Catherine Leslie; dearest son of the late David and Maria (Esteve) Sheehan; uncle and friend of many.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026 at St. Francis-St. Maximilian Catholic Church, 62811 New Haven Road, Ray Township, MI. Military honors will take place immediately following the Memorial Mass at church. Burial of Robert's urn will be laid to rest at a later date in Elwell, Michigan.
