It is with deep sadness that we found out about Bob’s passing. Betsy and I lived across the street from Bob and Nancy in Farmington Hills for over twenty years. Besides being terrific neighbors, Bob and Nancy were close and dear friends. We were amazed at Bob’s physical activities considering the wounds he sustained during the Korean War. He was not only a hero and Metal of Honor recipient, he was a kind, compassionate, and loving friend. Our deepest condolences to Anne, family and friends. Van & Betsy Snider

I worked with Bob at Federal Mogul back in the mid '70's in the accounting dept when I was a young Co-op from U of M Dearborn. He was a very inteligent, funny and entertaining gentleman. I never knew about his military history because most of all Bob was modest and unassuming. I worked with him for a couple of years and we used to play poker together. In all that time I never once heard him bring up his time in the military or his heroics. I only learned of his great dedication to his fellow troops because someone had told me his story. Even though its been many years since I have seen him I will still certainly miss this incredible man. It was my great pleasure to have known you. RIP Mr. Simanek !!! The world will be a little less special without you.
