Esther Greenwood, 100, of Marysville, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023 at Memorial Hospital of Union County, with her loving son by her side following a brief illness.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was a wonderful, loving homemaker for her family. Esther was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marysville and enjoyed shopping and sewing.
Born April 18, 1923 in Shadyside, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Beulah (Walters) Ward. On July 25, 1948, she married her husband of over 53 years, Andrew H. Greenwood and he preceded her in death on February 1, 2002. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Klotz; sisters, Lida and Irene, and her brothers, Walter and Gene.
She is survived by her sons, Curtis Greenwood of Marysville and Chris (Mary) Greenwood of Dublin; grandchildren, Brian Scott Davis and Jennifer McGlone; and her great grandchildren, Avery Davis, Christian Davis, Aidan McGlone and Quinlan McGlone; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Esther will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Reverend Diane Flynn will officiate and burial will next to her husband at the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday, beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Association, in care of the funeral home.
