Christian Biography of Robert C. Sloane

Robert C. Sloane was born on August 10, 1955, in Superior, Nebraska, to William "Clair" and Edith (McDonald) Sloane. As one of eleven children, Robert grew up in a home filled with love, faith, and the enduring bonds of family. On September 22, 2025, with his beloved family at his side, Robert was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 70 years, 1 month, and 12 days.

A lifelong resident of Superior, Robert graduated from Superior High School, where he met and later married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Lavonna Blair, on February 1, 1975. Together they were blessed with one daughter, Shanel, who became a central joy in Robert's life, along with her husband, Jason Rempe, and their three sons: Stetsen, Gage, and Kahne.

Robert dedicated his working years to the City of Superior as a wastewater operator. Known for his quiet diligence and strong work ethic, he served his community faithfully until his retirement. In his later years, Robert found great joy in the simple pleasures of life: tending to his yard and garden, sharing coffee and laughter with siblings at Karen's home, and taking memorable family vacations.

A man of many talents, Robert was gifted with the hands of a carpenter. He and Lavonna lovingly remodeled their home-originally purchased from her parents-turning it into a haven of comfort and family memories. His creativity and craftsmanship were also evident in his service to the community as a dedicated member of Candy Cane Lane, where he joyfully gave countless hours of decorating Lincoln Park each holiday season for so many to enjoy.

Robert's life was marked by humility, kindness, and a servant's heart-hallmarks of his Christian faith. He loved deeply and lived simply, never seeking the spotlight but always offering a helping hand. His family, friends, and neighbors will remember him as a man of integrity, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Edith; his brothers, Albert and Patrick; and his sister, Teresa Wilson, and his sister-in-law Peggy Sloane, and brothers-in-law Ron Harwell and Eldon Buster.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Lavonna Sloane; his daughter Shanel (Jason) Rempe of McCool Junction; grandsons Stetsen Rempe of Dallas, and Gage and Kahne Rempe of Aurora, Nebraska; his siblings: William Sloane, Jennifer (Alan) Wyatt, Don Sloane, Karen Harwell, Janice (Chuck) Hatzenbuehler, all of Superior; and John (Ginger) Sloane of Abilene, and Monica Buster of Hastings; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of dear friends.

Per Robert's wishes there will only be private family services.

Memorials may go to the family.
