Robert Slyter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by eCare Mortuary Cremation & Burial - Olympia on Jan. 31, 2026.
Devoted Father, Mentor, and Faithful Public Servant

Robert Wesley Slyter, 75, passed away on January 29, 2026. He was born March 7, 1950, in Tacoma, Washington, to Melvin and Mabel Slyter.

Robert grew up in Tacoma and later made his home in Yelm, Washington. In 1977, he married the love of his life, Pansey. She preceded him in death in 2008. Together they built a life centered on family, dedication, and quiet strength.

He worked for the United States Post Office as a custodian for 37 years, a role he carried out with pride, reliability, and a strong work ethic that defined much of who he was.

Robert loved his family deeply. He enjoyed playing pool, caring for his pigeons, and spending time with those he loved. He will be remembered as a strong role model, a wonderful man, and a father figure to many children beyond his own-someone who offered guidance, steadiness, and care wherever he was needed.

He is survived by his son, David; his daughter, Sherry; and his sisters, Beverly and Betty.

A graveside committal service will be held Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.

Robert's life was marked by devotion, kindness, and quiet influence. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and example that will not be forgotten.

Bob was one of the kindest, most sincere people we have ever known. He was a great friend to my husband and a wonderful part of our family. We will miss him very much.
