Robert Joseph Sodd, age 84, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by love. He was born on May 7, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late George and Cecelia Sodd.
Robert graduated from Boys Town High School, where the foundations of his character were laid. Robert dedicated over 25 years of his life to the Heidtman Steel Factory, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his colleagues. After a long and fulfilling career, he had the chance to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
In his leisure time, Robert enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Lions play, finding joy in the thrill of the game. He also loved to shop, play bingo and cards, but more than anything, cherished spending quality time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These moments brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Robert’s love and smile will forever be missed by those who knew him. This isn’t goodbye, but we will see you again…
Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving daughters, Lori Sodd and Lisa Swesey; grandchildren, Erin Swesey, Staci Autman, and Angel Autman; great grandchildren, Isaiah Mitchell, Ionna Jones, DJ Bryant-Bey, and Jakari Bryant-Bey; brother, Jim Sodd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by his loving wife, whom he missed dearly, Billie “Joyce” Sodd; grandson, Todd Autman; great granddaughter, Amari Autman; and siblings, Richard Sodd, Mary Etta Robinson, Georgene Oswald-Carr, and Dolores Hoblit.
Family and friends may visit Friday, July 25, 2025 at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 W. Wynn Road, Oregon, Ohio 43616, from 10:00 am until the time of his memorial service at 12:00 pm. Following services, Robert will be laid to rest at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
