In Loving Memory of Robert (Bob) Sodine

My beloved husband of sixty years, Bob Sodine, passed away on January 4, 2026. He is survived by his devoted wife, Phyllis Sodine, and their two daughters, Laura Galluzzo (Vittorio Galluzzo) and Michelle Bowman (Brett Bowman). Bob was also the cherished "Pa" of four grandchildren who he loved very much: Kyle Hassett, Dylan Hassett, Madison Bowman, and Skylar Bowman.

Early Life and Family

Bob grew up in the Bronx with his parents, Margaret Constadter and Julius Sodine, and he was very close to his late sister Carol Gabelli. We met as teenagers, attended nearby high schools and he was my first boyfriend. Bob and friends formed a doo wop group, the Vibrant Five, sadly, only his best friend Frank Nicolosi is still living. He spent 35 years with the NYC Police Department, retired as a First Grade Detective, and then worked another 10 years for the Westchester District Attorney's office.

We married in 1965, lived in the Bronx, and later moved to Yorktown Heights, where we raised our family. Frank also married and bought the house next door. We had a full life raising two daughters and had a wonderful group of friends. We lived in Yorktown for over 30 years before moving to Wappinger Falls in Dutchess County.

Bob loved traveling and taking his children with us even on our 25th Wedding Anniversary to Hawaii.

Bob also loved going to the beach, and our family spent many summers in Myrtle Beach, SC before buying a condo there. He loved outdoor activities and was a skilled hunter and proudly displayed his trophies in his den after moving to Wappinger Falls. He spent much time designing his den, especially his custom-built bar from Wisconsin, which required six men to move into the basement.

Moving to Wappingers provided the ability to spend time with the two youngest grandchildren attending endless soccer, basketball, baseball and of late flag football games. Often seen scootering around and beeping his horn-to the embarrassment of the girls-he was quick with a joke like, "Did you call for an Uber?"

He will be missed beyond words.

Please consider making a donation in lieu of flowers to Tunnel to Towers Foundation: https://t2t.org/ or Wounded Warriors Project: support.woundedwarriorproject.org. These organizations were very important to Bob.
