Robert Sorensen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williamson - White Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Amery on Dec. 9, 2025.
Robert "Bob" Axel Sorensen passed away surrounded by family at the age of 79 on December 6th, 2025. Bob was born on January 22nd, 1946 in Frederic, WI to Axel and Edna Sorensen (Wicklund). He attended school in Luck where he graduated in 1964. After graduating high school, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1968.

He married Renee Lee Durushia on December 30th, 1967. In 1968 their first son Scott was born, and in 1971 they welcomed their second son John. Bob started his career working at Hoerner Waldorf as an accountant. After 8 years, he entered the world of entrepreneurship. Throughout the years he owned laundromats, rental properties, and the Countyside Inn in Frederic, WI. In 1987 he transitioned into the insurance industry. Shortly after, he started Community Insurance, which he operated until 2022. Bob and Renee were married for 37 years until she passed away in 2005. On May 26th, 2007, Bob married Julie Brunn until her passing in 2023.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing and spending time with his friends and family. Bob was an avid fisherman and went on yearly Canadian fishing trips and made several trips to Alaska. Golfing was his favorite hobby. He was a member of the Frederic golf course for over 40 years, where he eventually became a board member. Bob and Julie began wintering in Sun City West, Arizona where they bought a home and became members of Briarwood Country Club. While playing golf daily they created many new friendships within the community. Many of which were dear friends until his last day. In 2017, Bob and Julie purchased a house on Bear Trap Lake in Amery, WI, where they spent their last years enjoying endless memories on the lake or around the pool with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his two sons, Scott (Jackie) and John; his grandchildren, Jessica Pederson (Dan), Reed (Jordann), Kyle (Amanda), Phillip (Paige), Whitney, Daniel (Jade); his great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Colsen, Maverick, Brody, Brysen; his sister, Karen Johnson (Marty); his brother and sister-in-law's, Darlene Patterson, Ruth 'Boots' Card, Joe (Elaine) Durushia, Bob (Dianne) Durushia, Cynthia Durushia, Donnie Erickson, and Harriet Durushia; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
