Robert Gene Stapleton 1930-2023
Bob was an incredibly loving, caring, and happy soul. His smile and laughter would warm the hearts of others and he was genuine almost to a fault. He would always reach out to those who needed his help or offer it to those who were not even asking. The impact he had on his family and friends of the family left a defining mark in everyone's heart that will never be forgotten. Robert Gene Stapleton, 93, passed away in his home from prostate cancer on 12/09/2023.
Bob was born in Springfield, OH in on July 4th, 1930, to Wesley and Florence Stapleton. He lived through the great depression and five wars in his lifetime serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War as an Electrician's Mate on the USS Jason. After his military service he began his career at Shell Petroleum in the Engineering Research Department in Bellaire, Tx completing 31 years until his retirement as a Research Scientist in Petrophysics and Honorary Chemist. He was also co-author on multiple U.S. Patents during his tenure between 1978 and 1986. Throughout the years after retirement, he and his family were incredibly proud of his lifelong achievements, and he kept in close touch with his former colleagues.
Robert Gene Stapleton was preceded in death by his wife Georgian, son Gary, and daughters Donna and Paula Stapleton. He is survived by his grandson Jason and wife Priscilla King, and his two great grandsons Paxton and Jensen King.
Bob loved to fish, spend time with family or friends, and walk the park. He enjoyed gardening, tinkering with wood or electronics, and raised homing pigeons as a hobby. However, when he got mad and didn't want them anymore, he would try to let them go. They always came back, what a surprise. We spent many summers as a family in the upper peninsula of Michigan at a lake house visiting family and building memories along the way. He cherished our dog Baloo (Doberman) and loved him dearly like a member of the family. He cared for all his loved ones during their time in need through sickness and turmoil no matter the time or effort it took to help his family. We couldn't have asked for a better Father/Grandfather/Friend and will miss him every day. Bob's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him, and he'll be there even in death to lend a helping hand.
Bob is now with the rest of our family and is now at peace. May he find happiness in the life after knowing his family here will do their best to make him and the rest proud. We love you Papa
