Robert G. Stevens

Robert G. Stevens, a true hometown boy, died January 7, 2026, at age 77. Born December 29, 1948 in Chester, PA Rob lived in Media from age 2; attending all 13 years of public school in one building on State Street. He graduated in 1966 with the last class to attend Media High School, playing on the football, basketball and baseball teams. After graduating from Millersville University in 1970, Rob was employed as a librarian at Upper Darby High School and operated a furniture stripping business on Baltimore Pike in Media. He continued to reside in an apartment in Media. In 1972 he was married and moved into the home next to his business. By 1975 Rob had moved Stevens Antiques across Baltimore Pike to the warehouse which is now the Sterling Pig.
Rob left education to follow a dream to sell antiques, had a successful business for over 40 years and truly loved his work. His pursuit of knowledge and acquisition of antiques allowed him to travel extensively both in the United States and abroad. His dealings internationally and at home with noted antique dealers acquired him an extensive following and sterling reputation.
In 1978 Rob moved his family about a mile down Route 252 to Wallingford, but never lost contact with his roots in Media. Although he moved his business to Chester County and a Warehouse in New Jersey in 1983, he could never separate himself and his family from Media. In 2006 Rob moved UP Route 252 to Marple Township, but retained a Media post office address.
Rob is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Arlene, two sons, Chadd and Kyle (Michele) and two grandchildren who he adores.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Church in Media on Saturday, January 17th. Visitation will start at 9:30 am with a service to follow at 10:30 am.
