Robert A. Stitz, affectionately known as Bob, Grampy, and Daddygramp, passed away on July 20, 2025, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born on October 31, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, Robert led a remarkable life dedicated to his family, his faith, and his work.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Robert carried the values of service and dedication throughout his life. His strong belief in the Lord guided him as an active member of the Body of Christ at Macedonia Baptist Church, where he participated in the Mastermen's class.

With a career spanning over 50 years, Robert was a devoted computer analyst who made his mark in the fields of computer development and programming. His journey began in the railroad industry before moving on to prominent companies such as IBM, TransAmerica, and Xerox, where he worked until his retirement in 1996.

As a loving and supportive family man, Robert was proud of his accomplishments, including his time in the AWANA program founded by the Northside Gospel Center in Chicago; there he met and married his wife, and remained involved, serving as a leader and counselor at Camp AWANA. His influence extended into the YMCA, where he served as a mentor and coach, dedicating time to youth programs that promoted growth and fellowship. Robert was known for his thoughtfulness and support for others, particularly the youth; he believed firmly in guiding the next generation.

Beyond his professional and community endeavors, Robert had a zest for life that extended into his hobbies and interests. He was passionate about creating memorable experiences for his children and grandchildren, encouraging them to explore new things, traveling often to broaden their horizons. Sharing meals was a tradition he held dear; the kitchen was his happy place, where he delighted in teaching his family how to cook and where they could share stories and laughter. Throughout his life, Robert's love for family and music was evident. He cherished the moments spent writing music and gathering around the piano with family, sharing joy through song- a love imparted to him by his father. Robert also had a love for bowling, which he imparted to his son, and a keen enjoyment of cooking shows on the Food Network. Most of all, he cherished time spent with those he loved.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Willard A. and Catherine Aldora Stitz; a beloved son, Steven R. Stitz, and a brother, Janson R. Stitz.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Deloris “Jean” Stitz; children, Jeffrey L. Stitz, Connie R. Ryan, and Suzanne J. Bernescut (Cedric); grandchildren, Sammie, Caitlyn (Craig), Gregory, Alex (Cleo), Ryan (Jenny), Megin (Alex), Clayton, Cole (Ashlyn), Gabbie and Kayla; greatgrandchildren, Sylis, Ryan, Ellie, Jasper, Summer, Winry, Cody and IslaBelle.

The funeral service for Robert will be 10 AM Tuesday, July 29, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Monday from 4 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.
