1938 - 2025
Robert Allen Tilden, age 87, of Swan River, MN, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Grand Itasca Hospital and Clinic in Grand Rapids, MN.
Robert was born in 1938 to Donald and Neva Tilden in Grand Rapids, MN. He grew up in the Splithand area and graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1956. He was drafted in 1957 and was honorably discharged after serving two years. Robert was an ice road truck driver in Alaska until 1978, when he bought the Swan River Truck Stop/Red Eye Saloon. He sold the business to his son in 1998. Robert was a Mason, a member of the Moose Club, the American Legion 40 & 8 and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed beekeeping and loved to hunt, fish, camping and gardening.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vern, and Charles; and sister, Shaloy. He is survived by the love of his life of 32 years, Wilma Peratalo, children, Carrie (Sean) Flynn, Teresa (Jeremy) Tilden, Robert (Joe) Tilden, Donald (Amber) Tilden, and Craig (Carrie) Peratalo; grandchildren, Jacob, Spencer, Jordan, Logan, Owen, Conner, Donald, and Kelci; and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
