Robert Anthony Herstine, known to most as Tony, died on November 6, 2025.
He was a beloved and devoted husband to Linda Shaw Herstine and father to Katelyn Herstine Call. Tony was an exceptional man who had a true passion for life, particularly as an outdoor enthusiast and competitive long-range marksman. However, being a grandfather to his three grandchildren was what made him happiest.
From Baltimore, Maryland, Tony attended Prospect Hall High School and later The College of Charleston and The University of South Carolina School of Medicine. He worked as a nurse anesthetist at Trident Regional Medical Center, Prisma Health, and MUSC Providence. Tony was a member of the Palmetto Gun Club and Mid Carolina Gun Club.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Robert Joseph Herstine, and his mother, Barbara Ann Herstine. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Shaw Herstine; daughter, Katelyn Herstine Call, and her husband, Joshua Dane Call, Sr.; three grandchildren, Joshua Dane Call, Jr., Elizabeth Ann Trezevant Call, and Robert Pendleton Taylor Call; sisters, Patrice Fletcher and Pamela Smith; brother, Michael Allanson; as well as his nieces, Aden Gardner and Amye Turner.
An intimate private family gathering will take place at Aberton Farm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a United States veterans organization of your choosing or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
