DATELINE: TECUMSEH, MICHIGAN

Robert M. Tooman, age 80, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away August 13, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born January 3, 1945, in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of Harold and Anna (Ernst) Tooman. On December 31, 1966, he married Patricia Ann Warner at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh, MI and she survives. Bob and Pat spent 59 years together golfing, bowling, traveling, playing cards, and dancing, always devoted to each other.

Bob was a graduate of Tecumseh High School, Class of 1964. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Reservist for 6 years. Bob worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in 2003 from the Saline Plant. He was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. He was also a devoted member of Knights of Columbus Council 9937 where he was honored to serve as a Past Grand Knight, and a past navigator for the Knights of Columbus St. Michael the Archangel 1969 council.

Every summer Bob and Pat spent as much time as possible on the golf course and enjoyed 40 years as members of Raisin Valley Golf Club. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and loved his time in a deer blind or fishing on a riverbank. He also had a lifelong love of music, which he shared with his daughters and grandchildren. In retirement, Bob even taught himself how to play guitar and spent hours learning his favorite songs. While Bob loved to have fun and enjoy life, he also worked very hard to provide for his family. Above all he was proud of the fact that his three daughters are college graduates with advanced degrees.

In addition to his wife, Pat, he is survived by three daughters, Kimberly (Alan) Schmidt, Christine (Kevin) Morse, and Kathryn (Matthew) Hoffman; 9 grandchildren, Canyon, Ava, Emory, Evelyn, Leo, Kathryn, Clare, Georgia, and, Nora; honorary daughter, Melissa (James) Hilton; siblings; Mary (Terry) Douglass, Marge Damon, Pam (Curt) Brown, and Bill (Debbie) Tooman, and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tom Tooman, nephew, Tommy Tooman, Jr. and his beloved cats, Sam and Budsy.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m., Monday, August 18, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh, MI with Rev. Fr. Daniel Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery with military honors performed by Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 & VFW Post #4187 Funeral Honors Team.

Visitation will be on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Purse & Son Funeral Home in Tecumseh with a scripture service beginning at 7:00. On Monday, visitation will also be taking place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the funeral mass at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to: the Knights of Columbus Council 9937 or to the Brittany E. Ames Scholarship Fund.
