Robert Eugene "Bob" VanDyne 91-year-old Vinita resident, passed away on December 3, 2025, at the Heartsworth Assisted Living in Vinita. He was born on July 29, 1934, in Edna, Kansas to Alfred Lewis and Hazel (Poston) VanDyne. Robert spent most his career in the US AirForce and later finished in the Army Reserve serving in Africa and Libya in the late 1950's. He retired from Tri Met as a Transport Supervisor in Portland Oregon. Robert was a member of the Dale Peace Post #40 in Parsons and served as a commander at his Post in Oregon.
Robert is preceded by a son Mitchell Lee VanDyne.
Survivors include children, Robert Eugene VanDyne of Gowen, MI, James Earl "Jim" Kelley of Wyoming, MI, William Edward (Debbie) Kelley of San Diego, CA, Stephen VanDyne of Milwaukee, OR, Vesta Ann (John) Lopez of Wheat Ridge, CO, Tammy S. (Donnie) Garner of Bluejacket, and Denise Jones of Milwaukee, OR.
Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Burckhalter-Highsmith Chapel. Graveside Services are set for Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 1:30 PM at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Services of Vinita. "Vinita's only locally family owned and operated funeral home."
