Robert Vent

Robert "Bob" D. Vent, age 87 of Baraboo, WI (formerly of Montello, WI and DeForest, WI) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 15th, 2026 at SSM St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Bob was born on September 22, 1938 to Thomas and Ida (Swartz) Vent in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. He honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1962. Bob was employed at Ohio Power Company before moving to Wisconsin and working for Wisconsin Power & Light until 1993, at which time he retired. He was a member of the Wisconsin Power & Light Pioneer Club and American Legion Post #351 of Montello Honor Guard.

He married Nancy Timm in March 1979. Bob and Nancy enjoyed many years living on the lake and looked forward to the children and grandchildren coming to enjoy all the water activities from swimming, skiing, fishing and the 5 o'clock booze cruise on the pontoon. They enjoyed traveling, gambling, fishing, bird watching and the Packers and Brewers. Nancy preceded Bob in death on August 9, 2021.

Bob is survived by his two sons: Bradley (Christine Sveum) and Brian (Liz) and two stepchildren: Roger (Pam) Timm Jr and Cathy Lochner. He is also survived by eight step-grandchildren: Joshua (Ashley), Jacob (Jennifer) and Joel (Lisbeth) Timm; Travis (Carlee) and Troy (Tiffany) Lochner; Kyla Timm, Jacinda (Sam) Klug and Bryce (Jessica) Timm as well as step-great-grandchildren: Shay, Cassius, Amelia, Lindee, Luca, Daniel and Benjamin.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Carrol Pfeiffer, stepson Dan Timm as well as many aunts and uncles.

A memorial service of Robert Vent will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Crawford Funeral Home in Montello. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. Pastor Julie Krahn will preside and full military honors by American Legion #351 of Montello will immediately follow the service. Bob will be inurned at Christian Faith Moravian Cemetery, DeForest. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to American Legion Post 351, P.O. Box 52, Montello, WI 53949.
