Robert W. Verespy, 86, of Exeter, passed away peacefully on Dec. 7, 2025.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on Dec. 31, 1938, he was the son of the late George and Annette Verespy. Bob was a 1956 graduate of Coughlin High School and a 1960 graduate of Wilkes College with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. Bob worked for many years for Bethlehem Steel and later for Wyeth Labs before retiring.
"Uncle Bob," as he was affectionately called, enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling to the beach, Atlantic City, Lancaster, the Poconos, and trips with family. Uncle Bob enjoyed dinner out at local restaurants, especially his favorite Fire & Ice, where he was treated like family. He had his favorite places to get local treats like Bakery Delight, Callie's Candy Kitchen, and all of the local kielbasa shops. Bob enjoyed talking with neighbors, who were always helpful to him throughout the years.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Verespy; sister, Lorraine Ancin; sister, Dorothy Hick; and sister in-law, Marie Verespy.
He is survived by his brother, George Verespy; niece, Annemarie Hellevik; nephew, Charles Hick, and companion, Megan McNulty; nephew, David Hick, and wife, Beckey; niece, Nancy Lewandowski, and husband, Jim; and great-niece, Katherine Lewandowski.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Family will be receiving guests beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 28 Memorial St., Exeter, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Exeter or Wilkes University. Condolences may be sent by visiting Bob's obituary at www.ngjfuneral.com.
