Robert Franklin Wade, passed away on October 26, 2023. He was born on September 26, 1929, in Cherokee County, Alabama to the late Harvey S. Wade and Ester Ray Wade.
Robert dedicated his professional life as a Maintenance Supervisor with Alden Carpets, where he showcased his exceptional skills and work ethic. His commitment to his job was unwavering, and he was a respected member of the team. Outside of his career, Robert had a passion for baseball. He played as a first baseman for a semi-professional team, displaying his talent and love for the sport. Watching the Atlanta Braves play brought him joy, and he was an avid fan until the end.
In his free time, Robert enjoyed cutting grass on his trusty John Deere mower. Tending to his garden was one of his proudest accomplishments every year, as he consistently grew beautiful plants and nourished vegetables that brought immense delight to both himself and those around him.
The memories created with Robert will forever be cherished by those who knew him best. His warm presence will be deeply missed in the lives of his surviving family members: sons, Harvey and wife Dorinda Wade of Rome, GA; Doug Wade of Gaylesville, AL; daughter, Glynda and husband Gary Martin of Dallas, GA; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who were fortunate to have shared precious moments with their loving grandfather. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey S. Wade and Ester Ray Wade; both wives, Laureen Phillips Wade and Louise Gilham Wade; a son, Barry Wade; brothers: Hub Wade, Carl Wade, Marvin Wade, Otis Wade; sisters: Vera Early, Bursey Wheeland, Patty Money and Donnie Peak.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Robert will be held at Salmon Funeral Home. The visitation will take place on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 3:30 PM until 4:30 PM. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 4:30 PM on the same day. A private graveside service will be conducted at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
