Robert Norman Walter, 95, of Elizabeth Township, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024. He was born on November 7, 1929 in Boston, Elizabeth Township and was the son of the late Ralph Charles "R.C." and Anna Mae (Rainey) Walter. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy Mae (Greenewald) Walter, who passed away September 22, 2017. He was a member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Boston; Mon Valley Radio Control Model Airplane Club and the Keystone Clippers R.C. Club; Member and past president of Boston, Greenock, Mt. Vernon Lions International Club, where he chaired the District 14B Lions International Drug & Alcohol Awareness Program for which he received the Lions Presidential Recognition Award; and was on the Board of Directors for Mt. Vernon Cemetery. He also was a past member of the Civil Air Patrol and Boy Scouts of America and a volunteer at the Boston Fire Hall Search and Rescue. Robert worked for Kelsy-Hays Wheel Company in McKeesport for three years then joined in the start-up of R.C. Walter and Sons Hardware and Roofing Company, where he worked until his final retirement in 1996. He is survived by his sons, The Rev. R. Paul (Lorrie) Walter of Liberty Borough and Thomas C. (Deborah) Walter of Elizabeth Township; daugters, Diane (Ed) Celidonia of Glenshaw and Jeanne (John) Hutchison of Jefferson Hills; grandsons, Patrick Walter of Florida, Jeremiah Walter of Florida and Mathew Walter of Elizabeth Township; granddaughters, Meredith (Connor) Kilgore of Charleston, NC, Jennifer Ranalli of Indiana, Julia (Erik) Schillo of Upper St. Clair and Jessica (Joe) Dahm of Finleyville; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph C. Walter, Jr. and Baby Walter. Friends are welcome Friday, December 13, 2024 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J.
