Mr. Waskom was my most memorable high school teacher. In 3 years of math I learned enough to test out in college and had to take no math. Nonetheless I had learned enough, some 39 years later, to lead several US Environmental Protection Agency workgroups including the development of dermal risk assessment. https://www.epa.gov/risk/risk-assessment-guidance-superfund-rags-part-e

57 years later I can still hear him in sophomore geometry and quote him directly: "In how many points do two lines in the same plane intersect? One and ONLY one."

Mr. Waskom was my favorite all-time teacher. He taught my Algebra II and Trigonometry classes at Chesterton (IN) high school in the mid - 1960´s and was so encouraging and inspiring that I went on to be a college math major.
I often thought "what would Mr. Waskom think?" as I encountered challenging situations throughout my life and career. I always had the greatest respect for him.
I´m so saddened by his passing ---
