Obituary
On March 5, 1949, Robert L. Waters Jr. was the first-born child of Robert L. Waters Sr. and Mildred Spencer Waters. Though born in Quitman, he spent his childhood years in Morven GA. He attended school in Brooks County and graduated High School in 1966. He pursued higher education and ventured off to attend Savannah State University in Savannah, GA where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Robert worked for Grumman Corporation while in Savannah and married his wife Margean Cash Waters of 52 years. To this union, two children were born, Karmen Latrice Waters and Robert L. Waters III.
Robert was employed with Union Carbide in Tennessee, which later became Martin Marietta, Lockheed Martin, and then BWXT Y12. Over the years, he was the recipient of many awards and achievements at work and in his community.
Robert had an unconditional love for his family and friends. He touched the lives of many people. Robert will be most remembered for his passionate love for Christ Jesus and his ability to love others. He led as an Elder at West End Church of Christ where he sincerely served and loved his members for many years. In recent years, he embraced compassion for the Hispanic community and helped create and head the Hispanic ministry where he intimately served wholeheartedly.
Robert was a leader in many ways. Throughout his entire life, Robert upheld strong ties with his parents, brothers, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He treasured his role as a husband and a father and embraced spending time with his family. Robert led and presided over various family functions and events, especially family reunions.
Robert was truly a humble and loving servant of Jesus Christ. His favorite scripture in the Bible was "But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Robert became ill in recent years and had spent most of his final two months in the hospital battling kidney disease and a complicated heart condition. Robert transitioned to be with the Lord in the early hours of the morning Monday, July 10, 2023, in the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. His wife of 52 years, Marge, was at his bedside during his final moments.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father, the late Robert L. Waters Sr. and Mildred Waters, father-in-law Shellie Cash, mother-in-law Margaret Cash, brother, Lysander Waters, sister-in-law Elaine Sharpe, and daughter, Karmen Latrice Waters.
Robert L Waters Jr. leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Margean Cash Waters; son, Robert L. Waters III (Natalie); grandchildren, Sydney Waters, Blakely Waters, Zarah Waters, Zaire Waters, Zealand Waters, and Amina Waters; brothers, Larry Waters (Shirley), Winston Waters (Inisha), and Rev.
