CTACS Robert “Bob” C. Weiss, Sr., 84, a veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime resident of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home. Bob, as he was known to many in the area, was born September 12, 1940 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Conrad and Eva Weiss.

 At the age of 17, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy on August 19, 1958 and retired October 31, 1979. The United States Navy recognized Bob for honorable service with a Navy Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and five Good Conduct Medals. After retiring from the United States Navy, Bob began his career as a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service and retired May 16, 2001.

 Bob was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and Son-in-law, James D. Godek (Dana). He’s survived by his wife of 63 years, June E. Weiss, his daughter, Dana L. Godek (granddog’s Murphy and Rowan), his son, Robert C. Weiss, Jr. (granddog’s Elwood and Jake), several Sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews in Ireland and Pennsylvania.

 His family has organized a Celebration of Life service to honor Bob’s life and military service, which will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery on December 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Family will receive family and friends at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory to Bob’s favorite charities, Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnel to Towers Foundation and Disabled American Veterans.
