Robert Wenz

Robert G. Wenz, age 85 Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Avid Golfer, Sports Fan, Athlete, Lover of History and Geography, Plant/Project Engineer, HVAC Consultant, Member of ASHRAE, Church Deacon and Elder, Army Reservist, Good Friend to Many Bob and Marilyn fell in love while both attending James Ford Rhodes High School, and had 63 wonderful years of marriage. He was a football team captain, playing tight end on the 1951 City Championship team. He attended and played football at Ohio University. In your younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball and softball, and then became an avid golfer. He an Marilynn greatly enjoyed travel, especially the long family trips touring the western USA in a travel trailer that provided lifelong memories. He and Marilynn loved golf travel and had the opportunity to play many premiere courses across the country. He was a member and frequent president of the Parma Golf Association for 44 years, and a member and co-director with Marilynn of the grasshopper couples league for 33 years. He was a lifelong devoted fan of the Browns and Indians, cherishing his memories of their championships in the 1940's and 50's. He became an ardent Cavs fan when they debuted in 1970. He relished attending games with his wife and kids at the old Richfield Coliseum in the 1970's and 80's, sitting in nosebleed seats but still a part of the energy and action. An avid reader of history and geography, he would always enjoy sharing what he had gleaned from his latest book. Bob enjoyed a 35-year career as a Plant and Project Engineer at the Sohio/BP Research Laboratory in Warrensville Heights. Subsequently, he worked in HVAC consulting at Air Control Products for another 22 years. He was a long -time member of Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church, serving many years as Deacon and Chairman of Deacons. He also volunteered years of effort heading the Building and Grounds Committee, including overseeing major expansions of the church facilities. He never shied away from hard work, frequently working a second job on nights and weekends in his younger years. Together with Marilynn, they built their family home in North Royalton in 1958 with their own hands. In his later years, he continued to enjoy maintaining their home and yard, reading extensively, following his Cleveland sports teams, and spending time with his family. Bob is survived by his wife Marilynn H. Wenz (nee Fink), children Dr. Robert E. Wenz (Dr. Margie) and Lisa M. Waples (Dr. Mark), and their children Jennifer Wenz, Eric Wenz, Megan Waples, and Emily Waples. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Martha, his siblings Donald, Arlene, Al, and Janet; and is survived by brothers Jim, Roger, and George. He was a beloved uncle to many.
