Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fohn Funeral Home - Cassville on Apr. 27, 2024.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Robert Wendall Windes, affectionately known as "Bob", of
Washburn, Missouri, who left us peacefully on April 21, 2024 in
Rogers, Arkansas. Born on November 11, 1933 in
Monett, Missouri. Bob was a beacon of kindness and wisdom throughout his 90 years of life.
Bob grew up in the loving arms of his parents, Wendall Alvin and Orlena (Grimes) Windes, who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Norma Morgan on January 21, 1955 in
Mineral Wells, Texas, who remains to honor his legacy. Together, they raised a family that includes their son Rob Windes and his wife Rhonda, as well as their daughter Kristy Brinkman and her husband Richard, all of whom reside in
Washburn, Missouri. Bob was a cherished grandfather to six grandchildren, Stephanie Brinkman, Tracy Brinkman, Justin Brinkman, Eric Brinkman, Aaron Windes and Heather Windes and he beamed with pride for his nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. His affection extended to his five grand dogs, each of whom brought him joy and companionship.
After graduating from Washburn High School in Washburn, Bob served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to civilian life, he embraced the heartland's work ethic as a cattle and chicken farmer. His entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as he became the owner and operator of Excel-Bio products for fifteen years, contributing to the community and setting an example of hard work and dedication.
Bob's interests were as vast as the skies he loved. He found solace and joy in building radio-controlled airplanes, a testament to his passion for aviation. The fields and pastures of his farm were his canvas, as he spent countless hours operating his tractor and combine, cultivating the land and harvesting its bounty. He was an avid fisherman, relishing the tranquility of lakes and the thrill of the catch. Traveling provided him with a sense of adventure and an appreciation for the beauty of the world. Above all, his grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Bob's life story is one of enduring love, tireless work, and an unwavering commitment to God, his family and the land. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created. Though he may be gone from our sight, the essence of who he was, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend will forever remain in our hearts.
Funeral Services with military honors will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Dale Hoggatt and Ken West will conduct the services. Private family burial will be at Washburn Prairie Cemetery in
