Robert R. Witte passed away on September 27, 2025 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and determination. Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Lorraine Witte, and is survived by his brother Larry (Susan) Witte. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years and best friend, Nan, and his treasured child Erin (Matt) Hitzelburger, and grandchildren Tessa and Dominic (Dom), who were his pride and joy. They meant the world to “Grampy.”
Rob dedicated many years to Hudsonville Public Schools, first as a teacher, and then as Principal of South Elementary School. He shaped many young lives, and was often stopped on the street to be thanked by his students for all of the support he gave that enabled them to become the best that they could be. Rob had a true educator’s heart. Rob also taught in his earlier years at South Haven Public Schools, and St. Francis Catholic School.
His skills and talents were many- Medical Sales, Realtor, Respiratory Therapist, and writing. Rob wrote three novels in the finishing stages and had many creative ideas for more. Rob was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed yard work, being out in nature, and went on many deer hunting trips with his brother and family.
Rob will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of those blessed to have known him.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Orchard Grove Senior Community, who was dedicated to his care during his final days.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
