Robert E. Wright

Robert E "Bob". Wright, 90, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Felton, MN, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in Sanford West Campus, Fargo, ND.

Robert “Bob” Wright was born September 17, 1933, in Fargo, the son of William and Hilda (Overby) Wright.   He was raised near Felton, first at the National Stock Farm where his father worked, and later at the family farm west of Felton.   Bob graduated from Felton High School and furthered his education obtaining a bachelor’s degree in history at Concordia College.  A dedicated lifelong learner, he pursued additional studies at Valparaiso Law school to earn his Juris Doctorate, as well as Lutheran Seminary.  

After a brief stint practicing law in Moorhead, Bob discovered his true calling was spending time on farm and raising his beloved Registered Black Angus Cattle. He spent countless hours managing the herd’s pedigrees and overseeing their wellbeing.  Many memories were created on numerous Cattle Trips, with sightseeing stops along the way, and he made many friends in the industry across the United States.

On June 13, 1970, Bob was united in marriage to Ellen Ramstad at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. He continued to oversee the farming operations near Felton for many years, eventually transitioning to focus exclusively on his Angus Cattle. Later, he would split his time between the farm and driving to town to help care for his son, Rob.  Following Ellen’s retirement from teaching, they moved to Moorhead. 

Bob also was active with the Wild Rice Watershed Board for many years and used his educational background and introspection to counsel a wide variety of viewpoints and interests toward the goal of sound water use and flood mitigation. He was also a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Felton, and delighted in pastimes, such as reading, traveling, playing cards, and laughing with friends.           
 
He is survived by his daughter, Trisha (Aaron) Tank, Felton; sister, Rose Mary Moore, Bismarck, ND; brother, Roger (Sharon) Wright, Fargo; family friend and caregiver Anita (Ellen Brisch) Bender; and several nieces and nephews.           
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Robert, Jr., and William "Rob" Wright; brother, Richard Wright; and brother-in-law, Marshall Moore.

A Visitation for Robert will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Friday, March 1, 2024, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead.   A Private Graveside Service will be held in the Felton Cemetery, Felton, on Saturday, March 2, 2024, followed by a Celebration of Robert’s Life beginning at 12:00 PM (Noon) to 3:00 PM at Minnie’s in Felton which is open to friends and the community.
