AVERILL PARK - Robert J. "Bob" Wright passed peacefully on January 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sheran Wright; his father, Henry Wright; his mother, Marie Irene Wright; and his brothers, Buddy Wright and Timothy Wright. He is survived by his brother, Daniel Wright.
Bob was a devoted father to his three children, Robert J. Wright Jr., of Nassau, N.Y. (Joelle Wright), Justin Wright, of Delmar, N.Y. (Meghan Fitzpatrick), and Pollyanna Houston, of Atlanta, Ga. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Monica Schultz, of Castleton, N.Y. (Brian Schultz), Haley Wright, of Brooksville, Fla., Alexis Wright of Greenville, S.C., and Jacqueline Kaminsky, of Atlanta, Ga. He was predeceased by his cherished granddaughter, Felicia Kaminsky.
Bob also took great pride in being a great-grandfather to Barrett Schultz and Rowan Schultz, who brought him immense joy.
He is also survived by his partner, Anne Guest; and her daughter, Elizabeth Karle (Adam); and grandchildren, who were an important part of his life.
Throughout his life, Bob was defined by his generosity, compassion, and unwavering willingness to serve others. He believed deeply in showing up for people, whether family, friends, or strangers, and he gave freely of his time, wisdom, and support. Bob touched countless lives through quiet acts of kindness, steady guidance, and genuine care, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bob will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his quiet strength, and the many lives he touched. His legacy lives on through the generations he leaves behind.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave., Rensselaer. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 4 p.m.
