Robert (Bob) Lee Wright (Woodward, Oklahoma) the son of Harold J. and Joyce A. (Windecker) Wright was born on Sunday, March 4, 1962, in Boulder, Colorado and passed quietly from this life on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in his home surrounded by family at the age of sixty-three years, ten months and sixteen days. Welcoming him into the Gates of Heaven was his beloved wife Sherry (Young) Wright and our Heavenly father.

Bob’s dad was a career Army Helicopter pilot. His military service afforded Bob and his family the opportunity to live in a variety of locations while he was growing. They lived in Alaska and Wisconsin and ultimately settled in Waynoka, Oklahoma so their family could be close to grandparents, aunts and uncles. Bob was a mischievous young lad. He had baby blue eyes and a smile that would melt the toughest disciplinarian’s heart. His mother had her hands full raising three young boys alone while their father served our country in Vietnam. It would appear as if “what one boy could not get into” the other two would discover.

Bob attended Waynoka, Oklahoma public schools successfully completing his General Education Degree. He attended: NW Area Vo-Tech, Rose State College, Oklahoma Police Academy and attended many hours of additional training receiving numerous certifications. Bob was also heavily involved in the Waynoka Community working as an EMT and Volunteer Fire Fighter.

Bob had a quick wit and zest for life. He loved fishing, hunting, chickens, mechanicing, motorcycles, boating, off-roading and beer (lol). Most of all he loved his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family.

He was united in marriage to his high school sweet-heart, Sherry Young, on June 8,1982 at the Congregational Church, Waynoka, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born: Cody Lee and Cord Robert Wright. They instilled in them a love for the great outdoors, teaching them to explore the world and giving them a since of wonder and enthusiasm for the world. Their marriage was a heart-filled and committed story of unconditional love and devotion. They devoted their lives to each other through many years of sickness and hardship, never faltering or questioning their love and devotion. Bob and Sherry spent their married lives in Oklahoma. They lived in: Waynoka, Fort Cobb and Cherokee making their final home in Woodward, Oklahoma where they raised their children and lived for many years.

Bob worked on a dairy farm in Wisconsin at the age of fourteen. Here he discovered a love for the outdoors and hunting. He worked as a Park Ranger for the Oklahoma State Park Services. He served as a Ranger at: Fort Cobb, Osage Hills and Little Sahara State Parks before being promoted to Park Supervisor and subsequently Park Manager at Boiling Springs State Park. He retired from Park Services in September 2002. After retiring he became employed in the Healthcare industry and was a trusted and valued employee of the Woodward Hospital facilities. During his tenure he was employed in security and facilities maintenance retiring after 20 years. He was a trusted, valued and dependable employee.

Bob received many awards and honors during his working career. He was an equipment operator and was Cleat Certified. He received certificates in: Electricity, Motors & Controls, Auto Mechanics, Water and Sewer Works and Gun Smithing.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents (Harold and Joyce Wright), his loving wife (Sherry) and one brother (Jim Wright). He is survived by: two children: Cody, his wife Melinda and Cord Wright, Woodward, Oklahoma, one brother: Bill Wright (Woodward, Oklahoma) one sister: Alaina Wright (Anchorage, Alaska) four grandchildren: Zachery Wright (Vici, Oklahoma) LeAnn Wright (Rogers, Arkansas) Johnathan and Tinsley Wright (Woodward, Oklahoma), a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friend.
