Robert Lindsay Young III

The early morning hours of Friday, August 27, 2021, marked the end of a life well lived by Robert "Bob" Young, a loving husband, father, [brother] and grandfather. He passed away in his long-time family home in the north end of Virginia Beach at the age of 75.

Bob was born and raised in a rural community just outside of Holland, Virginia. After graduating from Holland High School, Bob attended Ferrum College, Campbell University and Old Dominion University as a proud member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He worked for Evans Products Company and the Exxon (Esso) Company as a young man. His professional accomplishments are marked by his successful ownership and management of numerous service stations throughout Hampton Roads for over 32 years.

Bob is survived by his wonderful wife of forty-four years, Linda Grimes Young, two sons, Ryan, and Graham, and five beautiful grandchildren, Chloe, Mathew, Isabella, Zach, and Antonella. Bob was predeceased by his mother and father, Robert L. Young Jr., and Catherine S. Young.

Above all else, Bob will be remembered as a devoted family man and friend, who was both generous and kind-hearted. Bob believed his greatest accomplishment in life was being a father to his two sons. Bob loved golf and he treasured the friendships he made as a thirty-three-year member of the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club. Bob's kindness and generosity was most evident in his charitable work as a founding member of Helping Orphans in Latin America (HOLA), where he helped provide a better life and opportunities to thousands of orphaned and abandoned children in Nicaragua. In his memory, Bob hopes that we will carry on his love of all people, find humor at every opportunity and be generous with your time and resources.

Burial will be private. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club this October.
