Roberta "Bertie" Mae Ford, 85, of
Bushnell, Illinois passed away at 8:47 pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Blessing Hospital in
Quincy, IL. She was born August 17, 1938 in Wauwatosa, WI to William and Florentine (Lubinski) Bearce. She married Robert Wayne Ford on November 19, 1955 in Macomb, IL. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1991. She was sealed to him for eternity on June 13, 1992 in the Chicago Illinois LDS Temple.
Surviving are four children, Diane M. Sipes of
Bushnell, IL; Tina J. (Dave) Farquhar of Good Hope, IL; Russell W. (Teresa) Ford of Macomb, IL; Julie A. Ford of Bushnell; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, and seven siblings: Dorothy Wright, Barbara Gardner, John Bearce, Richard Bearce, Richanda Peters, Maggie Hillary, and Rita Hall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister in infancy, Deborah Bearce, grandson Jimme Sipes, son-in-law Jim Sipes, three brothers: William K. Bearce, Jr., Robert Bearce, and Frank Bearce; and three sisters: Betty Rhodes, Patti Johnson, and Josephine Ulm.
She was known for being a hard worker no matter what the job was. She worked at factories most of her life which included the Blue Bell in Bushnell, King Seeley in Macomb, Wilson Food in Monmouth, Norforge Machining in Bushnell, and also at Carl Sandburg College in Bushnell prior to her retirement.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, as well as a loyal and dependable friend. Many people would always see her out and about as she zipped around town picking up grandchildren, taking forgotten items to school, all the while visiting with friends along the way. She always enjoyed attending and supporting her grandchildren in their various school activities. She was a joy to be around with her quick wit and fun sense of humor. She was humble, kind, genuine, compassionate, and would always smile and ask how you and your family were doing. She had a love for animals but had a special fondness for her Golden Retriever, Miel, who preceded her in death. She leaves behind two furry companions, Gracie and Charlie. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Macomb, IL since October 23, 1976 and enjoyed all of the wonderful friendships she gained there over the years. She opened her heart, home, and car to so many in need. She touched the hearts and lives of so many people but was unaware of the positive impact she made. She will be truly missed by those who loved and knew her.
