Mrs. Roberta Collins Hoytt was born to on October 28, 1940 to the late Mrs. Annie Smith and Sammie J. Collins in Jackson, Tennessee.
Roberta confessed her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age at St. John Baptist Church in Jackson, TN. She married and later moved to Chicago, IL, where she became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After relocating with her husband, Douglas Hoytt, to Goodwater, AL, they joined St. John Apostle Catholic Church in Alexander City, AL.
Roberta was a proud graduate of West High School in Jackson, Tennessee. Roberta worked for the National Safety Council for 21 year. Following her retirement, she continued to serve others by working at Wal-Mart Super Center in Alexander City, AL for 10 1/2 years. She also, volunteered at the Brown Bag Food Pantry, traveled with the sick, and was an active member of the Senior Citizens group in Goodwater, AL.
Roberta was a loving and devoted mother who cherished her children and grandchildren. She was a positive role model who provided a joyful and nurturing spirit to all. Her hugs and infectious laughter brightened the lives of everyone she met, she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
She found great joy and sisterhood in being a member of the Red Hat Society "Birmingham Divas", a group she loved dearly and considered her extended family.
Roberta was called to rest on Sunday October 12, 2025.
Roberta is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Eugene Collins and Alexander Collins, sister-in-law Morris Ann Kelly, and two brothers-in-law Freddie Richardson and Stevenson Hoytt.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her loving husband, Douglas Hoytt; five children: Eric B. Yarbrough( Gail), Efferius Z. Yarbrough (Kelia), Avis D. Yarbrough, Mark S. Yarbrough (Jennifer), and Jataun D, Hoytt; fourteen grandchildren: Erica Yarbrough, Alicia Ford, Antoine Ford, Andre Ford, Ashley Ford Wade (CJ), Austin Ford, Sylvia Yarbrough Watson (Maurice), Victoria Yarbrough, Efferius z. Yarbrough Jr., Andrea Yarbrough, Emmanuel Yarbrough, Jasmine Yarbrough, Markesha Yarbrough, and Tiffany Adams; one sister Ann Martin Richardson; Three sisters-in-law, Camilla Jean Jackson, Joyce Collins, and Shelly Hoytt Dilbert; One brother-in-law, Everette O. Hoytt and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends; Especially her Walmart co-workers, church family, and "Red Hatters"-- who will forever treasure the beautiful memories of her sweet soul.
