Roberta McNeely Obituary
Jacksonville - Roberta Jean McNeely, 89, of Jacksonville passed away Friday, May 20, 2022 at Cedarhurst of Jacksonville. She was born September 29, 1932 in Jacksonville the daughter of Paul and Dochia Long Flynn. She married Donald McNeely on November 26, 1953 at Grace United Methodist Church in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2008.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne (Robert) Bruner of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Adam Bruner, Abby Bruner (fiance',Tom Johnson) and Lauren Bruner; one sister, Carol (William) Albert of Millstadt and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy Bote and Eleanor Marquard.
Mrs. McNeely was a teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Jacksonville for 38 years. She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She volunteered at Passavant for several years and received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2014. She loved attending her grandchildren's events and
enjoyed bowling, traveling, and playing bingo and Sudoku.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Jacksonville Public Schools Foundation or Grace United Methodist Church.
