Roberta A. Stanchak

Roberta A. Stanchak (nee Zech), age 88, of Sheffield Township, passed away Tuesday, August 01, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family while under the care of Crossroads Hospice.Born August 19, 1934, in Amherst, to the late Walter and Alma (nee Reising) Zech.Roberta graduated from St. Mary High School, Lorain, and was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lorain. She was also a member of the US Steel Golden Agers.She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, baking, canning, and traveling. Roberta was a Girl Scout Leader at Durling Elementary School in 1965 and 1966 and Den Mother in 1971.Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Walt) Koziura of Sheffield Twp; sons, Robert (Barb) Stanchak of Sheffield Township and Donald Stanchak of Hilton Head Island, SC; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dimitri "Jim" Stanchak, in 2015; sons, Michael and James Stanchak; daughter, Stephanie Stanchak; sister Geraldine Husar; and a brother, Conrad Zech.The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a Panachida service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Avenue, Lorain.
