ROBERTA VOCK Obituary

VOCK, Roberta C. (Slaght) Born September 23, 1926, London, Ontario, Canada, and most recently of Wellesley and Needham, Massachusetts. Passed peacefully on August 8, 2024, at the age of 97. Predeceased by her parents, Francis and Helen Slaght (Foley) of London, Ontario; her brother, William of Quebec; and her beloved husband, Robert M. Vock, MD. After education as a nurse in London and Michigan, she took off on an adventure in 1951 to work in obstetrics at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California, where she met her husband. They then worked together to build his family medical practice. Bob and Roberta lived in Pacific Palisades for over 35 years, raising their children and enjoying great friendships. They loved their days at the beach, trips in the station wagon to Lake Arrowhead, the Sierras and visits abroad, especially to Dorf Tirol. She moved to Wellesley in 1994, after Bob's death. There, her family and a newfound community at St. Andrews Church were the focus of her life. Roberta is survived by her daughters, Miriam (Gregory Sheehan) of Needham, Massachusetts and Carolyn (Daniel Dempsey) of Portland, Oregon; four grandchildren, Jessica Tangren (Christopher) of Newton, Carolyn Wintner (Anton) of Wellesley, Patrick Dempsey and Peter Dempsey of Portland, Oregon; and six great-grandchildren, Ruth and Isla Tangren, Axel, Magnus, Mikaela and Greta Wintner. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and crisp elegance that will continue to inspire all who knew her. A special thanks to the many caregivers who treated her with such respect and love at the end of her journey. A Service will be held in the Fall to celebrate her life.
