Roberto Avalos Padilla, 59, of Mabton, Washington, passed away on November 9, 2025, after losing his battle with lung cancer.
Roberto was born on October 2, 1966, to José Pascual Avalos Ornelas and María Guadalupe Padilla García in San Gregorio, Michoacán, Mexico, and was the ninth of 13 children. He moved to the United States in 1984, to work with his brothers at Carpenter Ranches in the Yakima Valley. In 1988, he met Cynthia Lang and they were married from 1990 till 2012. Roberto and Cynthia went on to have 3 children: Erika, Joshua, and Eliana. In 1990, Roberto began a 35-year career at Washington Beef until retiring in 2025 to receive cancer treatment.
Roberto is survived by his three children, Erika and Joshua Cummings (Marley, Christopher, Jonathan, Jack, Levi), Joshua and Taylor Avalos (Vera, Violet, Russell, Luke, Lucy), Eliana Avalos, his father Pascual Avalos, sister Juana Avalos, brother Salvador Avalos, brother Juan Avalos (Rosa), brother Pedro Avalos (Maria), sister Alicia Sanchez (Salvador), sister Teresa Luna (Javier), brother Felipe Avalos (Juana), brother Fernando Avalos (Guadalupe), sister Guillermina Lopez (Jesus), brother Jaime Avalos (Lucila). Roberto was preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe Padilla, brother Francisco Avalos (Maria); and his partner, Elvia Figueroa Ochoa.
Roberto was a hard worker all his life and loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed trips back to his hometown and taking care of the animals he raised. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his dedication, and the love he had for his 3 children and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah, WA on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 4:00 pm followed by the funeral at 4:00 pm. Burial will be at Zillah Cemetery.
