Visitation will take place Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Baca's Funeral Chapel in Deming at 11 o'clock in the morning, with Memorial Service to follow at 12 noon, Pastor Jesus De Santiago, officiating.
Roberto was born to Juana Lopez and Jose Soto at Inde, Durango, Mexico. He was a person of simple joys and deep faith. Roberto loved playing volleyball, listening to music, and watching classic black-and-white cowboy movies. He found comfort and guidance in reading the Bible, and his faith was a cornerstone of his life. Those who knew him remember his infectious smile and hearty laugh, which could light up any room.
Roberto is survived by his children; Joshua Lopez, and Juana Lopez (Andrew Bright), his granddaughter; Olivia Wiseman, 6 brothers; Gerardo (Concepcion), Sotero, Juan Jose, Lorenzo, Martin and Pedro (Esmeralda) Soto, 5 sisters; Juana Soto, Yolanda Soto, Ausencia (Jesus) De Santiago, Rosalia Flores and Norma Soto (Ramiro Artiaga), many nieces and nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Soto and Juana Lopez.
Roberto Soto López, de 63 años, residente de Las Cruces, falleció el jueves 19 de marzo de 2026 en su residencia.
El velorio se llevará a cabo el sábado 4 de abril de 2026 en la Funeraria Baca's en Deming, a las 11:00 de la mañana; a continuación, a las 12:00 del mediodía, se celebrará un servicio conmemorativo oficiado por el pastor Jesus De Santiago.
Roberto nació en Inde, Durango, México, hijo de Juana López y José Soto. Fue una persona de gustos sencillos y profunda fe. A Roberto le encantaba jugar voleibol, escuchar música y ver películas clásicas de vaqueros en blanco y negro. Encontraba consuelo y guía en la lectura de la Biblia, y su fe fue un pilar fundamental en su vida. Quienes lo conocieron recuerdan su sonrisa contagiosa y su risa jovial, capaces de iluminar cualquier habitación.
A Roberto le sobreviven sus hijos: Joshua López y Juana López (Andrew Bright); su nieta: Olivia Wiseman; sus seis hermanos: Gerardo (Concepción), Sotero, Juan José, Lorenzo, Martín y Pedro (Esmeralda) Soto; sus cinco hermanas: Juana Soto, Yolanda Soto, Ausencia (Jesús) De Santiago, Rosalía Flores y Norma Soto (Ramiro Artiaga); así como numerosos sobrinos y amigos.
Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, José Soto y Juana López.
