Roberto Tijerina Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castillo Funeral Home on Feb. 20, 2026.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roberto G. Tijerina, who entered eternal rest on February 16, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, the city where he was born on December 31, 1953.

Roberto was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant of God. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Tijerina, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, commitment, and cherished memories.

He was a proud father to his two daughters, Maritza Duncan (Charles), and Cynthia Trisna (James). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Destiny Castillo (Brandon), and Isabella and Ethan Trisna. His family was his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.

Roberto was preceded in death by his son, Robert Tijerina , and his parents, Oscar and Diamantina Tijerina. He is also survived by his siblings: Oscar Tijerina (Martha), Jacob Tijerina (Cecilia) , Diamantina Ortegon (Guadalupe) , and Diana Castro (Javier) . He cherished his extended family deeply and valued the bonds they shared.

He faithfully served as a deacon at Sendero Church for over 30 years , dedicating his time to serving others and strengthening his church community. His faith was not just something he spoke about, but something he lived out daily through kindness, humility, and service.

Roberto worked at State Farm for 27 years, where he built lasting relationships and was known for his integrity, dedication, and genuine care for people. His strong work ethic and steady character left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

After retirement, he found great joy spending time outdoors doing woodwork. With patience and skill, he created some of the most beautiful pieces, each one crafted with care and pride. It was more than a hobby. It was an expression of his creativity and the quiet way he loved to build things that would last.

Roberto was a great father in every sense of the word. He led with love, strength, and steady guidance. His presence was reassuring, his heart generous, and his pride in his family evident in everything he did. He treasured time spent with those he loved. He was never short on affection, and he never ended a conversation without saying, "Love you more."

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of our Savior. We hold onto the promise that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Roberto has finished his race, kept the faith, and is now at peace in eternal glory.
