Robin Earl Foor of
Belmont, CA passed away on October 28th, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family. He was 77 years old. Robin was a man of selfless generosity. He was his wife and children's protector and dedicated to his family.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 40 years, Que Nguyen Foor, his son Jonathan Earl Foor and his daughter Anne Garnet Foor, as well as his granddaughter Alina Garnet-Rose Viveiros.
Robin was born in Detroit, MI, to Clayton and Rose Ann Foor, both World War II Army veterans. He was the second of five children, all boys. He married Nguyen Thi Thanh Que (Que Foor) in 1985 and had two children Anne Garnet Foor and Jonathan Earl Foor.
He was a passionate scholar with an incredible intellect. He attended Cass Tech High School, a magnet school in downtown Detroit. Robin went on to earn his B.A. at the University of Michigan, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and his J.D from the University of Michigan Law School. He wanted to know how the world worked for himself and believed that an education was crucial to achieve that understanding. He combined his two great passions in his career as a lawyer: knowledge and helping people.
During the Cold War, he traveled to the USSR to study the Russian language at Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, a rare occurrence for an American at the time. He saw opportunity in Russia and went on to co-write the book The Potential for Joint Ventures in Eastern Europe (Praeger Publishers, 1972) while at Harvard.
While in law school, he promoted rock concerts in Michigan. He was an avid runner and ran countless marathons. He was a motorcycle owner in his youth, as well as a World War II and Civil War history buff. He was a jazz enthusiast and a world traveler whose head was always buried in a map in France, in Vietnam, in Brazil, in Czechoslovakia, in Hong Kong.
In the mid-1970s, he relocated from his native Michigan to San Francisco California, where he worked for one of the most prominent antitrust law firms in the United States. While working at one firm, he discovered that his "unlimited expense account", which he used to eat at the finest restaurants in San Francisco, indeed had a limit. He enjoyed finding that out.
He became general counsel of two high-tech companies in Silicon Valley. In his later legal career, he ran his own law firm and was a fierce litigator handling civil litigation including wrongful death matters.
Robin's family and community was always his first thought. He was a dedicated Scoutmaster for years, attending every camping trip he could with his son. He backpacked in the Yosemite backcountry, snowcamped in Lake Tahoe and led trips through New Mexico's mountains all for his Scouts.
Robin had an instinctive way of knowing when someone needed help, often offering support before they even asked. He gave his time freely to ensure those around him lived well and felt cared for. He believed deeply in equality - no one was undeserving of kindness in his eyes. His love was endless.
He is survived by his wife Que Foor, his daughter Anne Garnet Foor (Joseph Viveiros), his son Jonathan Earl Foor, his granddaughter Alina Garnet-Rose Viveiros, his brothers Michael Joseph Foor (Christina G. Sheldon), Matthew Adrian Foor (N. Joanna Foor). His brothers Clayton Marion Foor II (Jo Ann Piscorowski) and Kevin Mark Foor predeceased him. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in several states around the country, in Europe, and in Australia.
Robin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and cousin. His family will remember him as the most dependable that a person could be in this life. He was our safe place. He was our world.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, November 9th, 2025 at Crippen & Flynn Carlmont Chapel located at 1111 Alameda de las Pulgas,
