Robin Lynn (Landis) Nacarlo, 71, of Ocean Township, NJ passed away at home on November 24, 2025.
She was born on April 26, 1954 in Neptune, NJ, where she resided until the age of 8, when her family moved to Oakhurst. As a child, Robin was a Girl Scout and performed in many ballet and tap dance recitals. In her teenage years, she took guitar lessons, ran with the track team (800 meter) and was captain of the flag twirler squad at Ocean Township High School, from which she graduated in 1972. She spent the summers with her family at the Takanassee Beach Club in Long Branch and the boardwalk in Asbury Park. As a lifelong resident of the Jersey Shore, Robin was proud to be a "Jersey Girl."
Robin earned a bachelor's degree in education from Trenton State College (now TCNJ) in 1976 and began teaching at Wayside Elementary School. In 1988, she transitioned to the Ocean Township Intermediate School. She spent the last 22 years of her career teaching at the Ocean Township Elementary School ("Dow Ave"), where she fell in love with her friend and colleague, John Nacarlo, whom she married in 2007. Over nearly four decades, she touched the lives of thousands of students with her sweet smile and sensitivity and inspired them to spread kindness in the world.
Robin loved music, the Yankees, the beach, holidays and her Ford Mustangs. She enjoyed playing her Stratocaster guitar and continued tap dancing as an adult. Her ardent fandom of Bruce Springsteen began when he performed at her college in the early 70s, and she continued to see the Boss many times at the Stone Pony and the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, the town that held her heart. She was a member of the congregation at the United Methodist Church of Oakhurst since childhood. Robin was thrilled to be a grandmother to Winter Emerson, who was born in 2024. Robin adored her husband John (even though he's a Mets fan) and John adored Robin. They were best friends and truly a loving couple. John has always said, "Robin allowed me to be John" and "I have never met anyone as kind or loving as Robin." They made memories on their road trips together, collecting antiques, visiting ball parks around the country, and camping in the Catskills, where they climbed Kaaterskill Falls. They enjoyed dining out, especially at Moonstruck and Picalo Italia.
Among her many qualities, Robin was especially known for her thoughtfulness, diligence and a remarkable attention to detail – from her fashionable attire to her perfect handwriting. Robin was always smiling and full of positivity. She saw the good in everyone she met and appreciated people for who they are. Her kindness was boundless and genuine.
Robin is predeceased by her loving parents, Robert and Lois (Tildesley) Landis. She is survived by her devoted husband John Nacarlo, son Nicholas Nasti, daughter Nicole and husband Orion Baggerly of Matawan, grandson Winter Baggerly, sister Michele and husband Tim Haider of West Long Branch, brother Robert, Jr. and wife Christine of Manahawkin, brother Paul of Neptune, and sister Jodi and husband Ehab Abousabe of Yardley, PA, eight nieces and nephews: Rick, Tara, Alicia, Mike, Taylor, Trevor, Amy and Kasey, and six great nieces and nephews: Alexis, Alyssa, Aiden, Selena, Giovani and Antonio. She is also survived by her husband's children, Mary Nacarlo of West Belmar, John Nacarlo, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Manahawkin, and Jennie Nacarlo of Brick Township, and his five grandchildren: Emme, Lily, Brody, Landon and Avery. She is survived by three aunts, Joan Cordon of Greenville, SC, Joan Nugent of Point Pleasant, NJ, and Catherine Landis of Marietta, GA, and many cousins.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Salome Basharuli, who cared for Robin with genuine compassion. She brought comfort to both Robin and John in the most difficult moments. Through the tears and laughter they shared, a special bond grew between them, making Salome a member of the family, now and always.
