Robin Lee Simmons went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 15, 2023 in Clarksville, TN. Robin was born to the home of GW and Laona Simmons on October 5, 1961 in Deming, New Mexico.
Robin attended Deming Schools and earned his GED in 1983. He started working on a pig farm learning the value of hard work and how to save his money. Those years afforded him the opportunity to attend college. He earned a Bachelors of Education at Eastern New Mexico University in 1989 and a Masters of Religious Education at Andersonville Theological Seminary in 2002.
He loved to paint, cowboy and dance. Dancing led him to a dance floor in Las Cruces, NM where he met his sweet Texan Jean. They were married on June 13, 1986 at Hill Baptist Church in Las Cruces, NM. They were faithfully married for 35 years and raised two boys together, who were his pride and joy.
Making their home in Fort Sumner NM, Robin didn’t skip a beat in fully immersing himself in this small town. Working part time for the McCollum Ranch and the Gammill and Gunn Farm’s he was soon offered a 5th Grade Elementary teaching position and a coaching position. Before he knew it he was teaching, coaching, ranching and farming and loving every second of it. He enjoyed painting, hunting, raising bird dogs, rodeo, assisting in 4-H, FFA and sports.
As his interest grew so did his love and hunger for the Lord. He became a Deacon at First Baptist Church in March of 1996 and an ordained minister in May of 2003. Coming to find the Lord more fully around this time Robin tried to focus on people and relationships. Becoming very passionate about serving and giving back to his community he participated in prison ministry, AWANA clubs, and multiple mission trips. He was passionate about his students as a teacher and his players as a coach. Robin lived a life of loving and serving others well.
Robin is preceded in death by his parents; GW and Laona and one sister, Jeana Juree (Simmons) Vaughn. Robin is survived by his wife Ima Jean and two sons, Laremy(Jesika) of Fort Campbell, KY and Cameron(Jordan) of Clovis, NM and five grandchildren; Grainger, Bodhi, Noah, Akela and Mazen.
