Rocco Compitello Obituary

Rocco G. Compitello, Jr.
October 25, 2022
Rocco G. Compitello of Branford, CT, age 65 passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital with family by his side. Rocco was born in White Plains, NY on February 20, 1957 to the late Rocco G. and Josephine Cordelli Compitello. He spent most of his life in the New Haven, CT area. Rocco is survived by his sisters Catherine (Donald) Hemstock of East Haven, Patricia Gambardella of Branford, Sandra Santos of East Haven and Joanne (Robert) Ralston of North Haven and many nieces and nephews. Rocco certainly was "fun" uncle. He was predeceased by his nephew and godson Christopher Hemstock, and his beloved dogs, Lumpy and Bunny.
Rocco graduated from East Haven High School in 1975 and took great pride in receiving his Associates Degree from Gateway Community College in 2019. Rocco earned his real estate license in 1984. He spent many years working for Beazley Realtors and SNET. Some of Rocco's business ventures included Tyler Florist and Outer Limits Picture Framing. He was currently working as Specialist – Right of Way for Eversource and owned and operated Cove Real Estate in Branford, CT. Rocco's many hobbies included painting, cooking, home remodeling and gardening/landscaping to name a few. He excelled at most and if he didn't, he learned to. He was, by far, the best Wednesday Night Family Dinner host and his home and yard are like no other. From his paintings to his well cared for plants, there's a story everywhere you look. Above all, Rocco loved people and people loved him. No matter what he did, work or pleasure, he was in the company of people he called friends. And his friends were his family. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people. Many connections span his lifetime. The number of lives Rocco has touched and been touched by is innumerable. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours Sunday afternoon from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. Funeral and burial will be private. For directions and online memorial see www.wsclancy.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Rocco to the ASPCA.

I just learned of Rocco's passing. I had worked with Rocco on many projects as an attorney in Stamford CT. Rocco was a very nice guy and very reasonable. He was easy to talk to and a pleasure to work with over the years. I was very sad to hear of his passing and I know he will be missed by many. With sympathy.

My sincere sympathy to Rocco's family and friends. I worked with Rocco at Eversource and whether it was our daily work or storm duty, Rocco was always a pleasure to work with. I am thankful that not too long ago we got to catch up one day in the office. Like many others, I am deeply saddened by his passing. He was a great person and will truly be missed.

To family and friends of Rocco, he will truly be missed! I had the pleasure of working with Rocco on many many work projects. Everytime we spoke, it was always a joke and catching up on things. Rocco was always positive and always had something good to say. He will truly be missed at Eversource. Please know you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences go out to Rocco's family, I was so incredibly sad to hear of his passing. He was a co-worker and we worked on storm assignments together. He was certainly a bright light and I always looked forward to conversing with him on an array of topics. We spent one memorable storm coming up with ways to use leftover mashed potatoes, and shared recipes. I think he made a few for his Wednesday night family dinners. I will miss seeing his bright smile and wonderful humor. May he rest in peace.

God has taken one of the best much too early. I met Rocco as a young Realtor in the early 80's. During his life, Rocco was always positive, kind, caring, and happy. I will never forget him as one of the brightest stars.

Rocco was a close friend of my brother Louis Giannelli. Sadly Louis passed away as well in 1990. Rocco was always kind to me and so sweet and caring. He came to pay his respects to my dad when he passed away two years ago. I'll never forget his beautiful smile and giving nature. My prayers are with you during this sad time.

We can't imagine Rocco, our amazing friend, not being there at Summer Jazz Concerts on the Branford Green or for dinner and the theater. No matter where he was, he ran into friends and EVERYONE loved Rocco. He may have only lived 65 years, but he crammed 100 years of living into it. I hope you're in heaven now and Bunny and Lumpy are giving you all the licks you can stand.
We will never forget you friend and we will always miss you. Sincere condolences to his family.
