Roch Fredette Obituary

Visit the Radel Funeral & Cremation Services -Dehli website to view the full obituary.

Roch was a man of deep convictions and faith. He was an honest man who always sought the truth. He trusted in God’s Providence and desired to follow His will. He impacted many lives: his wife, his relatives, his friends, his colleagues, and especially his students, who looked up to him as a mentor. Roch will be deeply missed by all.

He was born in Dayton, Ohio to Raymond and Barbara Fredette. He worried his parents when at the age of three he wasn’t talking. He did start talking…and never stopped. Roch played quarterback on his high school football team. He ran track, where he excelled in the 110m high hurdles. After high school, Roch joined the Army, where he became an expert marksman and set the push up record at Fort Sill. After the Army, he drove to California with his brother, Paul, on the “Love Bus”. In California, Roch rediscovered his Catholic faith. Returning to Ohio, Roch finished his college education at Mt. St. Joseph’s University with a focus in music. He loved to play the piano, classical guitar, and organ (Old St. Mary’s Church). Roch worked at LaRosas where he met Scot Voss. An inseparable friendship was formed which had lasted for 33 years. Eventually, he went to work with his father as an Aerospace Engineer Analyst. A freak car accident brought Roch into the role of an educator at St. Edmund Campion Academy. He taught physics, chemistry, advanced math and calculus along with music and physical education. His classes were lively as he used unconventional methods to challenge and instill knowledge into his students—doing burpees were not uncommon in his classes. At Campion, Roch met his wife, Heather. He realized Heather was special and brought joy to his life. Roch and Heather were married in 2019 at St. Lawrence. In 2019, Roch also started teaching seventh and eighth grade math and science at St. Lawrence—where he inspired a desire for learning to his students, challenging them with daily quizzes and “up-downs”. Roch wished to continue teaching, but health issues hindered his love of teaching.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Fredette. He is survived by his wife, Heather; his mother, Barbara; his brothers: Raymond Jr, AJ (Annette), and Paul (Mary Claire); his sister, Monica; his many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

Visitation will be held on November 14th at Radel Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM. His funeral Mass will take place on November 15th at St. Lawrence Church at 10:00 AM, followed by his burial at St. Joseph Cemetery-New. A light luncheon will be available in Heritage Hall (underneath the church) after the burial.

Roch always emphasized his desire for masses to be said at his death. Please honor this request.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Lawrence Church.
