Rodney Melvin Brooks was born April 23, 1967, in Abilene, Texas. While residing with his beloved grandmother Zilpher Sims, he attended Abilene public schools. At a young age, Rodney developed a passion for music. As time went on, he learned to play the guitar and write his own music. He also had a passion for playwriting and filmography. He wrote and produced several short films and movie scripts. Notably "House of Soul" in hopes of making it into a movie. He also picked up art as a hobby.
He was employed by Abilene Regional Hospital, Custom Foods, Coca-Cola and later the City of Abilene. At an early age, Rodney professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at New light Baptist church under the leadership of Reverend Hurd. He was a faithful member and part of the senior choir and male course of Mt. Zion First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Demotis Sherman,Jr.
He was proceeded in death by his mother Jerrye Dean Sims, father Isaac Williams, grandfather, E. A. Sims Sr., sisters: Barbara Lynn (Lisa) Brooks, beloved grandmother Zilpher Sims, nephew Adgren Brooks, and Niece Brandi Williams and brother-in-law Greg Roy.
Those left to cherish his memories : wife, Robbie Brooks: daughters: Selisha Brooks, Stella Bell, April Green, Rachel, Rios (Jessie), Kaylee Conner and Sharphira Fields: sisters: Bennetta Sherman (Byron), Tyra Johnson (Garcia) , Donna Williams, Deborah Mack, Pat Williams, and Sandra Johnson, brothers: Randall Brooks, Anthony Brooks (Leslie), Bobby Brooks (Cindy) and Bennie Brooks, Uncle Rev. Charles Sims, mother-in-law: Mary Roy, sister-in-law: Yvonne Stewart, LaMonica Thompson, brother-in-law: Wendell Conner, Danny Conner and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
