Rodney Gene Childress, 83, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 9 AM to 8 PM, at Ratliff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 30, 2026, at Trinity Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Pierson officiating.

Rodney was born on June 16, 1942, in Bogata, Texas, to Novis Hale Childress and Daisy Marie Morgan. He lived a full life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and quiet strength.

He was united in marriage to Sarah Francis Ford in 1982 in Andrews, Texas. Rodney worked faithfully in his career with R&S Services, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Childress, his parents, Novis Childress and Daisy Morgan, and his son, Terry Childress.

Rodney was a man who valued family deeply. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children and stepchildren: daughter Shonda Lynn Childress of Odessa, Texas; stepsons Rickey Reeves of Lubbock, Texas, Randy Reeves of Alto, New Mexico, and Farley Reeves of Lubbock, Texas; stepdaughter Sharron Rittenhouse of Littleton, Colorado; and Brenda Chambers of Sun City, Texas; his fourteen grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren. He was cherished by his family and those who knew him.

Rodney will be remembered for his steady presence, his commitment to those he loved, and the life he built through faith and perseverance. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
